Anthropic basically said, "Our AI shouldn't be used for mass surveillance or killer robots without human say-so." The Pentagon, however, wanted full freedom to use it for any "lawful" purpose. Anthropic stuck to its guns, leading to a big split. But then, get this – Anthropic's rival, OpenAI, swooped in and made a deal with the Pentagon, despite previous hints they'd have similar strict rules. This move caused some folks at OpenAI to quit and even a big jump in ChatGPT uninstalls! Anthropic is now suing over the fallout. Then we have OpenClaw, a new "vibe-coded" AI assistant app that went totally viral.
